I didn’t set out to build a community. I set out to survive one of the hardest seasons of my life, with faith intact and heart still open.

It was somewhere between the cracked-open journal pages and whispered prayers that The Ruth Collaborative began. Not with a business plan. With a desperate prayer: "Lord, just send me a friend who get it." Women who knew what it was like to show up for a life that didn’t look like they thought it would. Women who were learning that faithfulness is sometimes as simple as standing when it would be easier to run. Women who wanted a sisterhood rooted in Scripture, not performance.

Women who weren’t content to sit quietly on the sidelines of their own stories anymore. That’s when I realized, maybe the very table I was longing for was the one God was asking me to build.

Hi, I'm Ruth...

So I began writing letters. To friends who were losing hope. To women I’d never met but who somehow found their way into my inbox after I’d shared one too-honest prayer online.

To myself, most of all, when I needed to remember what was true. I scribbled prayers on the backs of postcards. Tucked handwritten encouragement into Bibles I mailed across the country. Started a tiny weekly email called Letters to the Becoming, more for my own heart than anyone else’s, at first.

But the women kept coming. Not in droves. In twos, in threes, the faithful, the longing, the tired, the brave. Then I opened the doors a little wider. Created space for a circle of women who didn’t want curated perfection, they wanted communion. Who were done chasing platforms — and ready to build legacies. The Ruth Collaborative is what grew out of that quiet yes.
